The Focus Group on School Safety in Trenton Public Schools hosts a community town hall meeting on Saturday, September 21, 2024, from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Historic Crescent Temple, 50 North Clinton Ave., Trenton. Organizers propose this event will engage families in a richer and more transparent conversation on school safety. The Focus Group formed as a community engagement network supporting safe schools for children in the Trenton community. This public forum will empower students to act in promoting safety in our public schools. Students in grades sixth through 12th, will have a platform to share their perspectives and experiences in the school environment. Joyce Kersey heads a group of promoters that have assembled a collaboration of community partners, including Mercer County Community College, VIP College &Career Prep Program, Concerned Pastors of Trenton, Pentecostal Church A/G of Trenton, and many Army JROTC Cadets. Previous focus groups collected information, ideas and experiences presented by public school students. Two research & evaluation consultants, Bernard McMullan, Ed.D., and Kevin Davis, Ed.D. will share the results of student surveys and student round table discussions. There will be a Q & A session for the public to speak on the information that is presented.
