HADLEY, Mass. (WWLP) - Employee volunteers with the Commonwealth Care Alliance gathered at the Cultivating For Community Farm in Hadley. "We harvested 217 pounds of fresh vegetables to give to three local food banks in the area, lettuce, tomatoes, beans, okra, radishes, and all kinds of lettuces," said Sharon Beauchemin, with the CCA. Volunteers gathered here in Hadley at this acre-and-a-half community farm to do some weeding, harvest the produce, and prepare the farm beds. Lee Gadway told 22News that this is all part of an effort to help feed those who are in need of food. "Just that one saving grace for people to be able to not have to worry about one more thing on top of their daily lives. It's just phenomenal to see people's attitudes change when they get to have a strong healthy meal," said Gadway. According to the Education Community Coordinator of the farm, Amanda Reynolds this was all made possible with the help of volunteers. "On our farm, we really rely on volunteer help. We have a lot of things to do and with having 100 percent of our harvest being donated to three local food pantries it is crucial that we have volunteers come and help," said Reynolds.
