KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- A staff member at a church in Peculiar, Missouri is facing charges for allegedly downloading and sharing child pornography. Cass County prosecutors on Tuesday charged 29-year-old Andrew Lovisone of Greenwood with two counts of first-degree promoting child pornography. The crimes are believed to have happened between July and August of this year. According to court documents, Cass County detectives began looking into multiple cyber tips received from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. The emails associated to these cyber tips all had Lovisone's name in them. Kansas cult leaders convicted of forcing children to work 16-hour days without pay A subpoena was sought for an IP address, which had been geo-located to the Peculiar area. The subpoena response showed the IP address belonged to the First Baptist Church in Peculiar, according to court documents. Further investigation revealed Lovisone as a staff member at the church. Videos from July 28, 2024, on the church's Facebook page and YouTube page are titled: "Pastor ordination service for Andrew Lovisone." A search warrant was conducted at the church and Lovisone's residence in Greenwood where he was taken into custody. During an interview with detectives, court documents say Lovisone confessed that he had been using applications to download and share child sexual abuse materials. When asked about a cellphone that had been recovered from him when he was taken into custody, he said a detective would locate pictures and videos as young as 12 years old, according to court documents. Lovisone also stated the downloads and uploads happened at both the church and his residence after hours during the week.
