ZIONSVILLE, Ind. — FBI agents were on the ground Wednesday in Zionsville conducting an investigation at a racing complex and team headquarters. FBI officials confirmed Wednesday afternoon to FOX59/CBS4 that agents were at Rahal Letterman Lanigan racing headquarters in Zionsville for an active investigation. Agents reportedly showed up around 8:30 a.m. to the facility at 10771 Creek Way. Zionsville Mayor John Stehr confirmed to the Indianapolis Business Journal on Wednesday that the FBI "requested assistance" from Zionsville police for investigative activity at RLL HQ. The IBJ reported that Stehr deferred to the FBI for additional information, but that the agency's Indy office declined to comment. The FBI said in a statement to FOX59/CBS4 that there is no threat to the public. RLL Racing has not responded to an IBJ request for comment. No other information was provided. Rahal Letterman Lanigan is owned by former Indy 500 winner Bobby Rahal, Hoosier native and TV host David Letterman and entrepreneur Mike Lanigan. RLL's 100,000-square-foot facility opened in Zionsville in 2022. The racing team currently fields three IndyCar cars driven by Rahal's son Graham, Pietro Fittipaldi and Christian Lundgaard. RLL also fields two cars in IMSA, with their #24 and #25 currently entered to race this weekend at IMS in the IMSA Battle on the Bricks event. The IBJ reported Wednesday afternoon that Graham Rahal did not immediately return a message left on his cell phone, and that IndyCar and Penske Entertainment did not give comments. Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing said it was complying with the investigation in a statement shared with FOX59/CBS4 Wednesday night. “We are cooperating fully with investigators. Given that this is an ongoing investigation, we are limited in what information we can share right now, but we intend to provide additional information as soon as we can," said Kathi Lauterbach, vice president of communications. FOX59/CBS4 is now working to confirm more information as to why the FBI was at the complex. This article will be updated as more information becomes available.
