They also interviewed “people involved” at the scene of the shooting. In a separate Tuesday evening post on X, NHPD reported that officers were on scene with a stabbing victim at Liberty Street and Carlisle Street in the Hill. “Victim’s injuries do not appear life threatening.”And on Monday afternoon, police put out a press release on X about how, at 11:48 a.m. Monday, officers responded to YNHH’s St. Raphael’s campus on Chapel Street for a report of a shooting victim who arrived by private vehicle, which police later determined was stolen.“The victim, a juvenile male from New Haven, stated he accidentally shot himself while removing a handgun from his waistband. His condition was listed as non-life-threatening. The victim had an active warrant out of Milford for Robbery in the First Degree and was transferred to their custody.”These shootings are just the latest in a recent uptick of gunfire across town: this past weekend, four people were injured in three different shootings; last week, two men were injured in an afternoon drive-by shooting in Cedar Hill; and the weekend before that, four people were shot in three different gunfire incidents in two days.Police ask that anyone who may have witnessed these incidents or who may have information valuable to investigators to call detectives at 203 – 946-6304 or through the department’s anonymous tip line at 866 – 888-TIPS (8477).According to the city’s latest weekly CompStat report, which covers crime data through Sept. 1, 60 people had been shot and injured by that time this year, compared to 49 at that time last year.
