WEST COLUMBIA, SC (WOLO) — Since becoming governor, Henry McMaster has highlighted the investment by private companies in South Carolina. Now, the 10th largest private company in the nation is opening a new multi-million dollar facility right here in the Midlands. Family-owned Southern Glazer’s Wine and Spirits boasts an annual revenue of 26 billion dollars. The company is investing 80 million into a new state-of-the-art distribution facility in West Columbia’s Saxe Gotha Industrial Park. Southern Glazer’s has operated out of South Carolina since 1993 but have outgrown their Richland County facility. Wednesday, company leaders and elected officials broke ground on the 85-acre distribution facility located right off of I-77. The new site brings construction and technical jobs to Lexington County and those in attendance at Thursday’s event believe that more investment in the Midlands is just around the corner. The company hopes to complete the facility and be up and running in the next 18 months.
