COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)– According to SLED’s 2023 Crime in SC Report, weapon Lew violations have increased for 10 years straight. SLED says the number of weapon law violations rose 129.7% from 2014 to 2023 and has increased 624.4% in the last 30 years. And from 2022 to last year, the number of adult offenders arrested for the violations rose from over 7 thousand to more than 11 thousand. For juveniles that number increased from over 1 thousand to more than 19 hundred arrests. However, the number of murders, sexual battery, and burglaries decreased last year.
