South Carolina Weapon Law Violations increases for 10th year

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)– According to SLED’s 2023 Crime in SC Report, weapon Lew violations have increased for 10 years straight.
SLED says the number of weapon law violations rose 129.7% from 2014 to 2023 and has increased 624.4% in the last 30 years.
And from 2022 to last year, the number of adult offenders arrested for the violations rose from over 7 thousand to more than 11 thousand.
For juveniles that number increased from over 1 thousand to more than 19 hundred arrests.
However, the number of murders, sexual battery, and burglaries decreased last year.
