Happy Hump Day! The remnants of the coastal low that’s plagued our forecast for the entire week so far continues to do so this Wednesday afternoon as clouds and scattered showers roll across the Carolinas. Overcast skies and stray rain chances linger into the overnight hours, which will likely lead to another dull and gray start to Thursday. Patchy fog and drizzle may also cause a few problems for your morning commute, but skies will steadily clear into the afternoon. Highs climb close to 80° across the Piedmont and Foothills, while the High Country ends up closer to 70°. Bright skies stick around and temperatures only rise into the weekend as a ridge of tropical high pressure seeps into the Southeast. Highs will cruise into the mid-80s around the Metro by Saturday and may even crack 90° on the first day of fall on Sunday. A weak cold front arrives by the start of next week, which may bump rain chances up slightly as temperatures slide back into below-normal territory. We’ll also want to stay weather-wise as models suggest a tropical system may find its way into the Gulf later next week. Tonight: Cloudy with a few showers. Patchy fog late. Low: 66º. Wind: Light. Thursday: AM fog. PM mostly sunny with a stray shower. High: 81°. Wind: NE 5-10. Thursday Night: Partly cloudy. Low: 66°. Wind: Light. Friday: Warm sunshine. High: 84°. Wind: NE 5-10.
