MORGANTON, N.C. – The NC State Highway Patrol is searching for the driver of a tractor-trailer for being involved in a fatal hit and run in Burke County, according to a news release. The release states that on September 18 at 9:20 a.m., the Highway Patrol responded to a fatal hit and run collision on I-40 West near Exit 104. A 2018 or newer Freightliner Cascadia tractor-trailer truck a pedestrian, 25-year-old Alfredo Hernandez-Son, while driving west on I-40 and proceeded to leave the scene, as said by the Highway Patrol. Hernandez-Son succumbed to his injuries at the scene. The tractor-trailer is said to be missing the right front headlight assembly and will have right front bumper and hood damage.
