MORGANTON, N.C. – The NC State Highway Patrol is searching for the driver of a tractor-trailer for being involved in a fatal hit and run in Burke County, according to a news release. The release states that on September 18 at 9:20 a.m., the Highway Patrol responded to a fatal hit and run collision on I-40 West near Exit 104. A 2018 or newer Freightliner Cascadia tractor-trailer truck a pedestrian, 25-year-old Alfredo Hernandez-Son, while driving west on I-40 and proceeded to leave the scene, as said by the Highway Patrol. Hernandez-Son succumbed to his injuries at the scene. The tractor-trailer is said to be missing the right front headlight assembly and will have right front bumper and hood damage. Anyone with information regarding this fatal collision should contact the Highway Patrol at 828-466-5500.
