Staff Reports Tonight, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., the Carson City campus of the Nevada Humane Society will open its doors to the public for its Paws & Programs. Paws & Programs is an event designed to share how donor support aids the Humane Society with its animal welfare efforts in the community. The event includes a behind-the-scenes look at how the organization works. “Attendees will get an opportunity to hear heartwarming stories, discover different ways they can support the facility and make memories with animals on site,” a spokesperson wrote. In 2023, the Nevada Humane Society and its team served more than 17,500 animals throughout Northern Nevada. In total last year, 8,665 animals were adopted out including 3,248 dogs, 5,036 cats and 381 small animals such as hamsters or rabbits. As part of the program tonight, attendees will take a self-guided tour of the facility and meet with animals. Those who wish to attend are asked to RSVP here. Tickets are free, but there is also an option to donate if you so choose. The Carson City campus is located at 549 Airport Road.
