WASHINGTON (DC News Now) -- With Election Day less than 50 days away, registering to vote is on people's minds nationwide. In Washington, D.C., residents can register to vote in several ways. However, there are some requirements. According to the District of Columbia Board of Elections, to vote on Election Day (Nov. 5) in D.C., you must: Be a U.S. citizen. Be at least 18 years old. Be a resident of D.C. Maintain residency in D.C. for at least 30 days before the election. Not claim voting residence or the right to vote in another U.S. state, territory or country. Online: Residents can register to vote or update their registration online, here. The deadline for online registration is Oct. 15. By mail: Print the Mail in Voter Registration Application and complete fields one through 13. Make sure to sign the form before mailing it to the DC Board of Elections at 1015 Half Street, SE, Suite 750, Washington, DC 20003. The form must be received by Oct. 15.
