TOPEKA (KSNT) - City workers will be closing an intersection in southeast Topeka Wednesday until next month so repairs can be made on a water line. Joseph Harrington with the City of Topeka said in a press release that workers will close the intersection of Southeast 25th Street and Southeast Monroe Street on Sept. 18. Workers will be shutting this intersection down to make repairs on a broken water line. Harrington said work is expected to be complete by Wednesday, Oct. 2. Drivers can choose between two detour routes to get around the intersection. These include the following routes: Eastbound 25th Street - Southeast 25th Street and Kansas Avenue south to Southeast 29th Street/Kansas Avenue, then east to Southeast Adams Street and north to Southeast 25th Street. Westbound 25th Street - Southeast 25th Street/Adams Street south to Southeast 29th Street, then west to Kansas Avenue and north to Southeast 25th Street. Topeka Boulevard intersection shutting down, what to know Robert Bidwell with the City of Topeka said in a separate press release that workers will, starting on Monday, Sept. 23, begin replacing the curb and gutter on South Kansas Avenue.
