(WSAV) – A developer requesting the commercial rezoning of almost 26 acres near Historic Ebenezer has withdrawn his request. This follows a petition to prevent the rezoning that garnered nearly 600 signatures and the planning board's recommendation to deny the request. Residents were concerned about preserving the history of the area, including the oldest operating Lutheran Church in the state. Effingham man charged with soliciting a minor A meeting to create standards in the historic district is set for Wednesday, Oct. 9, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the New Ebenezer Retreat Center. News 3 is told the 269 property owners in that area will receive letters inviting them to weigh in on the topic.
