RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- Stormtracker 8 Meteorologist Matt DiNardo was joined by special guest Jordan Ross in the WRIC NOW livestreaming studio to talk about fly fishing in the Adirondacks and rod building. Jordan Ross -- founder of JP Ross Fly Rods & Co. Outdoors and Trout Power -- talked with DiNardo about their longstanding friendship, Ross's craft of custom rod building and his interest in conservation efforts. "For me, spending time in the Adirondacks and finding these places, these headwater streams, that still have fish in them that have been there since the ice age and the glaciers receded is just special to me. I want to share it as much as I can, both with the youth and with people that are older," Ross said. JP Ross Fly Rods & Co. Outdoors was started in 1997, and began after higher, more intricate customer demands gave Ross an idea. "What ended up happening was, it was a good product and good customer service -- people came back so they wanted another one and they wanted it nicer. They wanted to add a special grip and they wanted to change the colors," Ross said. Ross is also the founder of Trout Power, a group with an aim of protecting, restoring and enhancing native brook trout populations within their native range.
