TIVERTON, R.I. (WLNE) — Gov. Dan McKee joined the Armory Revival Company and Peabody Properties for the grand opening of Solara, a newly developed mixed-income community, in Tiverton.
The company said that the new community features 59 units, with 47 designated as affordable housing, and is part of a project to produce energy efficient and sustainable large multifamily apartments.
The development received $1.6 million from the Development of Affordable Homes program, which is part of the governor’s suite of housing and homelessness programs.
Peabody Properties said that the development includes a solar array on the roof, electric vehicle charging stations, and specialized systems for heating, cooling, and hot water that will help lower energy costs for residents.
“Rhode Island remains committed to increasing affordable housing options and growing our housing stock at every level,” McKee said. “This project represents continued momentum in achieving that goal.”
