Threat made toward Covington school, juvenile questioned

COVINGTON, La. (WGNO) — A juvenile is being questioned in connection to a threat made toward a St. Tammany Parish area school.
On Wednesday, Sept. 18, the Covington Police Department alerted parents and students that there was a police presence on campus after a threat of violence was made toward Coving High School via social media.

Officers said the person has been taken in for questioning and ensured police will stay on the campus through out the day as a precautionary measure.
"Please be assured that we are taking all necessary steps to ensure the safety and security of everyone at Covington High School. If you have any concerns or information, please do not hesitate to reach out to us," said Covington police.

This comes the same week that another juvenile was arrested for an alleged bomb scare reported at a New Orleans area high school on Monday, Sept. 16.
