LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC 36 NEWS NOW) – Happy Wednesday! Just a few showers in the forecast today, mainly for areas east of I-75. There will be a more sunshine today compared to yesterday and that will allow temperatures to be a few degrees warmer than yesterday. Most locations will hit the upper 70s and low 80s this afternoon. Be alert for some patchy dense fog developing late tonight and into Thursday morning. Late Week Warm-up Temperatures will be on the climb Thursday through the weekend. Friday into Saturday will likely be the warmest of the stretch. Afternoon highs on Friday will peak in the upper 80s, while many spots will be making a run at the low 90s on Saturday. This is not record warm, but it will be around 10+ degrees above average. Heading to the Kentucky football game on Saturday? Be prepared for the heat, don’t forget sunscreen and stay hydrated (with water). Overnight lows will remain comfortable. The air is going to be dry during this time period and that will allow lows to fall into the low 60s in most spots. Sunday will likely be warm as well, though some of the forecast models suggest there may be some added cloud cover late in the day that could limit the temperature climb. Sunday is also Autumnal Equinox, with the fall season officially beginning at 8:43 a.m. Watching Next Week Rain chances start to increase next week as we are expected a cold front to sweep through the region. The forecast models are all over the place with the timing. Some suggest an earlier arrival of the front, leading to cooler conditions mid-week. While others sweep the front through Tuesday into Wednesday. Once this front passes you can expect a brief cooldown. There will also be rain chances along this frontal boundary as well. What could complicate this forecast is a potential tropical system developing in the western Caribbean that could move into the Gulf of Mexico. Depending on the exact timing and track of this system, it could interaction with the frontal boundary.
