BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — Vets and firefighters in Bloomington helped save a local pup from a sticky situation earlier this week. The Bloomington Fire Department posted on social media Tuesday that BFD Station 5 employees were greeted earlier that night with an unusual situation. The owners of Enzo - a male Australian Shepherd - brought the dog in with a bone stuck around his bottom jaw. Photos of Enzo's predicament, provided by BFD with the owners' permission, can be seen below: BFD said Sgt. Brandon Hudson and Eng. Jim Johnson assessed the situation and contacted the Emergency Vet Clinic. BFD said that despite being extremely busy, Clinic staff agreed to meet crews and help Enzo. At the Clinic, BFD said vet staff sedated Enzo and began looking for a solution. The Squad then used a Dremel saw to remove the bone. "Awesome ending," BFD wrote. "We are so happy Enzo is safe and things worked out so well for him." BFD warned dog owners to use extreme caution when giving their pets bones to chew on. "Not only can they become choking hazards but, like in Enzo's incident, they can get stuck around their jaws, too," their post read. The Department ended the post by saying that all BFD Fire Stations are 24/7 safe places for locals in need of help.
