UPDATE: WEDNESDAY 9/18/2024 11:43 a.m. At 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 18, Academy District 20 (ASD20) sent out a message to the Rampart High School community about the alleged threats that had spread on social media recently. ASD20 said on Tuesday, Sept. 17 it had investigated a vague and anonymous social media message and confirmed Rampart High School was not the subject of any threat. Overnight into Wednesday, ASD20 received several phone calls along with the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) in connection to the social media message. ASD20 worked with CSPD to investigate and dispel the rumors fully, and ASD20 said there are no active threats against Rampart High School or any D20 school, at this time. ASD20 also said these rumors have spread to several communities around the state in the last few days. Rampart High School is open and operating normally on Wednesday. ASD20 did say while these rumors were proven to be false, ASD20 will always take every appropriate precaution to ensure the safety of its schools. ASD20 encourages all people in the community to use reporting tools such as Safe2Tell when appropriate and ask the community not to share rumors but to contact the district during office hours, or Safe2Tell so that the district can investigate through the proper channels. WEDNESDAY 9/18/2024 9:38 a.m. (COLORADO SPRINGS) — On Tuesday night, Sept. 17, and Wednesday morning, Sept. 18, FOX21 News received reports from concerned parents about a possible threat of a school shooting at Rampart High School in Colorado Springs. On both days, FOX21 received a photo from concerned parents of a text message allegedly threatening a school that has been spreading around social media. FOX21 reached out to the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD), which told FOX21, that officers are aware of the reports but are reassuring the public that there is no credible threat to the school and that officers are taking the reports seriously and continue to investigate. CSPD officials told FOX21, that the photo parents sent to our newsroom, appears to be a hoax that has been spreading across the country, and that hoaxes like this appear for a few weeks after a high-profile incident such as the recent shooting at Apalachee High School in Georgia. CSPD said that even though the alleged threats may be tied to a hoax, every threat is taken seriously and investigated. FOX21 also reached out to Academy District 20 (ASD20), which reaffirmed the threats are not credible and that communication has been sent to parents. FOX21 is awaiting further comment from the school district and will update this article once we learn more.
