No Shooter On CPCC Campus After Report
Sep 18, 2024
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Matthews Police Department responded and investigated a reported shooter on CPCC’s campus and found no evidence after a lockdown procedure, according to a news release.
The release states that on September 18, a witness claimed someone was shooting a gun outside of a building on campus.
A lockdown procedure began for students and faculty with officers arriving on campus within two minutes of the call and investigated the incident.
According to the investigation, police say they found no evidence there was a shooter on campus at any time.
“Unfortunately, there have been several threats of school violence in the state and our area lately which naturally puts us all on high alert. Although, thankfully those threats have also been determined as unfounded, we never want anyone to second guess picking up the phone to dial 911 to report anything suspicious,” said Officer Tim Aycock. “We always encourage everyone that if you see something say something! We would much rather investigate things that turn out to be false alarms than to risk the safety of our community’s students and staff.”
