Photo by Nic Antaya/Getty Images Two weeks in, the Lions have checked off two of their most exciting games this season. Which remaining game are you looking forward to the most? We’re just two weeks into the 2024 NFL season, yet the Detroit Lions have already checked off two of their most anticipated games of the season, reliving the first two weeks of the 2023 season’s playoffs. The Lions still have plenty of good matchups to go, though, especially as we see that this Lions team isn’t quite the same as last year, and will match up differently with teams they may have played recently. Question of the day: Which remaining Lions game are you most excited for? I think there are several candidates here. The first one for me is Week 18 against the Minnesota Vikings. The Vikings look good, and Kevin O’Connell has the offense humming with Sam Darnold and Aaron Jones at the helm (just as we all predicted, right?) With the Lions being the obvious favorites and the Packers having a rough start to the season with the loss of quarterback Jordan Love, the Week 18 matchup at Ford Field could be a game for the division. Of course, the week before that is probably circled on your calendar, too. The Lions travel to San Francisco in Week 17 for a rematch of the 2023 NFC Championship, a painful memory for all of us. Then there’s the Week 4 Monday Night Football game against the Seahawks, who the Lions have had their fair share of trouble with over the past decade. Almost every game has been down to the wire, but the Lions have repeatedly come up on the losing end. They’ll aim to change that in front of a home crowd. I know several people who have been eyeing this year’s Dallas Cowboys rematch, too, after the Taylor Decker reporting debacle from late last year. My answer: I’m most looking forward to the home game against the Buffalo Bills in mid-December. The Bills are consistently a strong team and will be a good litmus test for a lot of my concerns about the Lions as they head into the home stretch. We’ll see how sharp Jared Goff looks against a crafty defense, as well as how the Lions defense is doing to corral a mobile quarterback in Josh Allen. There’s an emotional aspect to it, too. As much as the Lions have experienced pain against the Seahawks, Cowboys, Niners, and more, the most painful loss in recent memory for me was Thanksgiving 2022 against the Bills, where they came back and scored with just seconds on the clock. It was right as the Lions were turning things around, and it pulled the rug out from the first glimpse of hope I had felt as a Lions fan in at least four years. I’m hoping the Lions can rectify that when the two teams face off this year. Regardless, there is clearly a strong slate of contenders for the Lions’ most anticipated remaining game. Don’t sleep on this week, either, as the Lions face a much-improved Cardinals team in Arizona. Which remaining game are you most excited for? Let us know in the comments.
