The Berks County Area Agency on Aging hosted its 11th annual Centenarian Luncheon at the DoubleTree by Hilton hotel in Reading on Sept. 4. The luncheon honors and celebrates Berks County residents who are 100 years of age or older or who will turn 100 this year. About 125 people joined the party celebrating 23 centenarians along with family members, friends and other guests. Margaret DiLullo, 109, is the oldest attending centenarian at the Berks County Area Agency on Aging’s 11th annual Centenarian Luncheon. (Jonathan Heintzman) This year’s oldest attendee was Margaret DiLullo, 109.  According to a collection of autobiographies developed by the Area Agency on Aging, DiLullo’s secret to a long life is good genes and drinking a Yuengling beer every day. Five of the centenarians served in the military and were recognized and honored for their service by staff from the Office of Veterans Affairs. Deputy Director of the Berks County Office of Veterans Affairs Will Tobin presents honors and a challenge coin to veteran Warren Fearon, seated, during the Berks County Area Agency on Aging’s annual Centenarian Luncheon. (Jonathan Heintzman) The veterans recognized were Robert Hartline, Marine Corps; Marian Long, Army Air Corps; Douglas Hanks, Air Force (deceased); Warren Fearon, Marine Corps; and Norman Reifsnyder, Army. The celebration included remarks from Berks County Commissioner Dante Santoni and State Rep. Johanny Cepeda-Freytiz; live entertainment from Joey Vincent; and a joyous rendition of “Happy Birthday” to all. Each centenarian had their picture taken and was presented with a framed, commemorative photo.
