An 18-year-old man was arrested for a fatal car crash that occurred in West Windsor in August, the Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office announced. Rehan Jahangir of West Windsor faces charges of first-degree aggravated manslaughter, second-degree vehicular homicide, third-degree vehicular homicide, and fourth-degree possession of a false government document. Jahangir was driving a 2024 Tesla Model Y on August 20 at 3:49 a.m. when the vehicle left the roadway on Lanwin Boulevard near Providence Drive and collided with a tree. The crash caused significant damage to the passenger side of the vehicle. The passenger, Daniel Haas, 18, of Princeton Junction, died on August 24 from injuries sustained in the crash. Both Jahangir and Haas were initially transported to Capital Health Regional Medical Center with life-threatening injuries. Investigators from the West Windsor Township Police Department and the Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office Serious Collision Response Team determined that Jahangir’s blood alcohol content was 0.125 at the time of the crash. The Tesla was traveling at 78 mph in a 35 MPH zone. Jahangir was also found to be in possession of a fraudulent New Jersey driver’s license with an altered date of birth. The charges were announced by Acting Mercer County Prosecutor Theresa L. Hilton and West Windsor Police Chief Robert Garofalo. Jahangir was served with the complaints at a rehabilitation facility in New Brunswick.
