Photo by Andrew D. Bernstein/NBAE via Getty Images A list determined by giving every accomplishment a numerical value Found an interesting article in which the author defines the top 10 NBA players of all time. With most of these lists, there is a subjective or argumentative aspect which continues the Jordan vs. LeBron type discussions. But in this list, the author clearly defines what attributes are used and how they are numerically scored, leaving the room for disagreement to be point values and which statistics and recognitions count. By calculating NBA championships, Finals MVP awards, regular season league honors, and career statistics, the list includes older players who are often dismissed due to stats not calculated before certain years. There was some accommodation made for players who won titles before the Finals MVP award was created, and you will see that in the run down. 1: Michael Jordan – 1799 Points 2: Kareem Abdul-Jabbar – 1722 Points 3: LeBron James – 1602 Points 4: Bill Russell – 1300 Points 5: Wilt Chamberlain – 1242 Points 6: Tim Duncan – 1135 Points 7: Kobe Bryant – 1065 Points 8: Magic Johnson – 1049 Points 9: Shaquille O’Neal – 940 Points 10: Hakeem Olajuwon – 869 Points For Pounders, this article was included specifically because if features Tim Duncan. It never hurts to remind fans of his greatness, but I like how this system mathematically aligns him with the greatest of the greats. For measure, the author goes through the top 25, but has even more disclaimers than those for Chamberlain and Russell. Check it out, and enjoy. Welcome to the Thread.
