INDIANAPOLIS – The Indiana Fever will face either the Las Vegas Aces or Connecticut Sun in the first round of the WNBA Playoffs. It will all come down to the final night of the league's regular season on Thursday. Tuesday night saw the New York Liberty clinch the top seed and homecourt advantage throughout the postseason while Minnesota’s win over Connecticut clinched the No. 2 seed for the Lynx. The Sun hold a one-game lead over the Aces. If Connecticut loses Thursday night and Las Vegas wins, the Aces will be the third seed because they hold the tiebreaker. If both teams win or both teams lose, Connecticut would clinch the third seed and host Indiana because the Sun would finish with the better record. The Fever (20-19) clinched their first playoff berth since 2016 earlier this month. They're looking to finish with their first winning record in nearly a decade and play on the road against Washington to close out the regular season. The final playoff spot is still undecided, with the Atlanta Dream currently slotted eighth ahead of the Washington Mystics and Chicago Sky. If Atlanta can notch a win on the final night of the regular season, they’ll clinch a playoff berth. They’ll also get in if Chicago and Washington both lose. The Mystics need a win and an Atlanta loss to qualify for the postseason, while the Sky need a win and losses by Washington and Atlanta to get in. The Los Angeles Sparks and Dallas Wings have been eliminated from postseason contention. Here’s the playoff picture: No. 1 New York vs. No. 8 Atlanta/Washington/Chicago No. 2 Minnesota vs. No. 7 Phoenix No. 3 Connecticut/Las Vegas vs. No. 6 Indiana No. 4 Connecticut/Las Vegas vs. No. 5 Seattle The WNBA Playoffs start on Sept. 22.
