Summertime heat refuses to let go
Sep 18, 2024
AUSTIN (KXAN) -- It's better than a week of triple digits... but not by much.
Afternoon highs will return to the upper 90s today under a mainly sunny sky. Low morning clouds will keep our temperatures warmer than normal for the next several days... but don't expect the clouds to hang around all day. Sunshine will help boost temperatures daily.
High pressure, caught between low pressure to the east and another one to the west, won't move much this week.
This pattern should start to shift some Sunday, allowing temperatures to drop a few degrees to the mid-90s. A storm system to our north and west could push a cold front our way on Sunday, but as of now, rain chances remain slim (10%) as confidence is low.

A broad area of low pressure has potential to become further organized in the Caribbean late weekend into next week.
