CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) - Four dancers who train out of the Dazzle Studio of Dance in Agawam will head to Poland in just a few months. The athletes made the International Dance Organization team earlier this year and will compete at the World Championships in November. "This is basically the dance Olympics. So this is really important to all of us," shared Thea Cosgrove, Team USA Dancer. Tuesday evening, John Vieau, Mayor of Chicopee, recognized Thea Cosgrove, Karielys Rivera, Madison Vasquez, and Paige Bordeau. One of the athletes, Paige Bordeau, was born and raised in Chicopee. Tuesday's ceremony, a moment she will cherish forever after years of hard work. "We all went to New Jersey for a competition called USTD, it's called the United States Tournament of Dance, and they gave us an opportunity to try out for the International Dance Organization team to go to Poland, and we all made different teams," shared Paige Bordeau, Team USA Dancer. The mayor of Chicopee recognized the four athletes as they continue to commit to a lifestyle that is not easy to balance. "We're very excited for them and I wanted to make sure that they were recognized here before they leave," shared John Vieaw, Chicopee Mayor.All four dancers are high school students across Western Massachusetts. "I'm working hard, harder than ever really and I'm attending my normal dance classes as well as working outside of dance and now we're going to New Jersey for practices as well," shared Karielys Rivera, Team USA dancer. The International Dance Organization World Championship will feature over 70,000 athletes from 70 countries. The four dancers from Western Mass are set to take part in the Jazz, Contemporary, Lyrical, and Acro events.
