National Hurricane Center watching Caribbean for possible tropical development next week

NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — The National Hurricane Center is watching the western Caribbean where an area of low pressure may form over the weekend.
Weather forecast models show some slow development early next week as the system moves slowly north or northwest over the region.
In addition to the NHC's seven-day tropical weather outlook, NOAA's Climate Prediction Center is also forecasting a strong likelihood (over 60%) of tropical development in the western Caribbean from September 25 to October 1.
The next named storm will be Helene, but it's still too soon to predict its path, potential impacts, or strength. This outlook only points out where tropical activity might begin next week.
While it's something to monitor, especially for the Gulf Coast, there’s no immediate cause for concern, as most models don’t show development until early next week.
