Our hot and dry weather pattern continues across northeast Indiana and northwest Ohio. Despite the optimism of earlier forecasts, high pressure will steer away any chances of rain through the remainder of the week. This will allow for our drought to continue to worsen. We'll get an update to the drought monitor on Thursday this week. Drought expands and intensifies across NE Indiana and NW Ohio Look for mostly clear skies to be in place as you head out the door early Wednesday morning. However, some patches of fog will be around; you may want to plan a few extra minutes for your morning commute to work or school. Temperatures will be in the mid-50s to get the day started. Patchy fog and seasonable temperatures can be expected early Wednesday morning. Wednesday brings us more sunshine and unfortunately not any rain. Any chance for some moisture from the remnants of Potential Tropical Cyclone Eight has left the forecast. Highs Wednesday will be in the mid-80s. Wednesday will be another warm and dry day. We'll stay dry all the way through Saturday, with temperatures reaching as high as 90° by the weekend. It remains possible we could set a record for the longest September streak of days in the 80s, as our current mark stands at eight days. The record to beat is 12 days, which was set back in 1927. No rain is in the forecast until at least Sunday. We could set a new record for most highs in the 80s in a row in September in Fort Wayne this month. Rain chances though do increase by next week and there is a greater optimism in seeing some much-needed rain. The best chances look to come in the Monday to Tuesday window for the time being, with temperatures looking to cool a bit into the 70s by midweek.
