Carolina Beach Students Taken Home On High Water Rescue Vehicles
Sep 17, 2024
A little different than their typical bus route.
Nearly a dozen students from Carolina Beach Elementary were taken home by the New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office using high-water rescue vehicles. This comes after 20 inches of rain fell in Carolina Beach.
Dr. Christopher Barnes is the Interim Superintendent with New Hanover County Schools and he issued a statement reading in part, “I want to apologize to the students, families, and staff far the decision to keep school open during the storm.” Barnes went on to say, “we will be reassessing our processes and seeing where we can improve.”
