TOPEKA (KSNT) - Two months out from the General Election with candidates former President Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris, millions of Kansas are registered to vote. The Kansas Secretary of State Scott Schwab's office announced Tuesday, Sept. 17 that the Sunflower State has reached a milestone this election year with two million Kansans are registered voters. Schwab said this accomplishment was reached last week, and this number is expected to increase before registration closes. According to the United States Census Bureau, the total population of Kansas in 2020 was 2,937,880. Since January 2024, 83,293 new registered voters have been added. “I am pleased to see so many Kansans taking the important step of registering to vote,” Schwab said. “I remind Kansans that the most secure way to register is through VoteKansas.gov. The use of a .gov address ensures security and lets Kansans know they are accessing an official government site, rather than a third-party one.” Activities at Shawnee County parks will soon close for the year To be able to cast a vote in the Nov. 5 election, Kansans must be registered to vote and make sure their voter registration information is up to date by Oct. 15, 2024. Kansans who are 17-years-old, but will turn 18 by Election Day, are eligible to vote. To check your voter registration details, click here. For more local news, click here.
