ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – From the first chill in the air to Thanksgiving, pumpkins, autumn leaves, scarecrows, and other classic fall-time fixtures start to pop up. The first day of fall lands on Sunday, Sep. 22, but that doesn't necessarily dictate when these decorations start to appear. Whether influenced by changing weather patterns or the habits of neighbors, the time of year that people start to decorate for fall varies greatly. KRQE asked viewers on social media when they start to decorate for fall. New Mexico Halloween and fall events for 2024 The majority of viewers, almost 70%, typically start decorating for fall sometime during the month of September. Some viewers prefer to get a head start in August, while others prefer waiting until spooky season approaches in October or even November. Some viewers schedule their decorating around sports, citing the first day of the NFL season and the first game of the World Series as their starting point. Some keep decorations up year-round or decorate indoors and outdoors on separate dates. One viewer said they "let Mother Nature do it for me!" Many commenters are already finished with their decorating, now able to enjoy an autumn aesthetic before the season officially starts.
