Salt Lake City — St. Louis-based industrial piping wholesale distributor Service Metal Products opens the company’s fourth distribution warehouse in  Salt Lake City, Utah. The third-generation family business is excited to bring the Service  Metal way of doing business to its customer base of industrial supply houses in the  Western United States.  Service Metal has signed a 5-year lease for 70,000 square feet of new warehouse and  distribution space just 5 miles west of downtown Salt Lake City. Terms of the lease were  not immediately disclosed.   Service Metal President, Tim Williamson, shares, “We carefully researched locations for  expansion and ultimately chose Salt Lake City for its central location, logistical  infrastructure, and ease in ability to recruit employees.” The distribution warehouse is  expected to kickoff operations by creating more than a dozen jobs in the next 12-18  months. Williamson adds, “At Service Metal, we believe that the relationships between  people make our company great. Recognized as a 2024 Top Workplaces winner, we are  excited to bring new employment opportunities to the Salt Lake City labor market with our  competitive pay, strong company culture, and excellent benefits packages.”   Jim Fears, VP of Sales, notes the locations will allow Service Metal to assist customers  better, “We are most excited about helping new West Coast customers win jobs and  service local mechanical contractors with our strong stock, fast quoting, and speed to  ship.” Transit times are expected to reduce to 1-2 days for the region.   Privately owned and operated for 70 years, Service Metal has grown to 350,000 square feet  of warehousing with distribution centers in St. Louis, MO, Charlotte, NC, Houston, TX and  Salt Lake City, UT.
