CHARLOTTE, N.C. – CMPD detectives have arrested and charged a local track coach for various crimes against children, according to a news release.
The release states that on September 5, police began an investigation on 37-year-old Daszmar Lockhart after an adult victim reported she was sexually assaulted multiple times by Lockhart.
According to an affidavit, the victim, who was a part of Lockhart’s travel track team “Lock Nation Athletics,” was assaulted between 2018-2020 during private trainings at Lockhart’s weight room in his house. The victim was 14-years-old when the alleged assaults began.
Throughout the investigation, police say two other victims came forward and claimed to be sexually assaulted by the coach as juveniles.
A 15-year-old victim states she was sexually assaulted after a private workout with Lockhart’s at his house. Lockhart created a fake Snapchat account to talk to the victim, due to her parents checking her phone, according to the affidavit.
The other victim, 11-years-old, claims to have been sexually assaulted during a track practice in a different jurisdiction.
After obtaining arrest warrants, Lockhart was arrested on September 17 and charged with:
Statutory rape of a child 15 years or younger
Four counts of indecent liberties with a child
Two counts of statutory sex offense with a child 15 years or younger
Lockhart has a prior conviction of disseminating obscenity in 2019 and stemmed from an incident involving a minor at a grocery store.
