Baton Rouge mayor announces new Head Start, early childhood development initiative

BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — East Baton Rouge Mayor-President Sharon Weston-Broome is holding a news conference to announce a new initiative for Head Start and early childhood development.
On Tuesday, Broome will meet with the media to announce the new initiative at the New Horizon Head Start near Park Elementary.
Early childhood development is about having an environment for and education supporting very young children from birth to give them the support they need for success later in life.
Other initiatives Broome has started include Healthy BR, MoveBR, Mayor's Youth Workforce Experience, Mayor's Youth Advisory Council, Mayor's Advisory Council on Veteran's Affairs, Neighborhood Convention, Safe Hopeful Healthy and the Stormwater Master Plan.
Broome is running to hold the position of mayor-president in East Baton Rouge for another term.
