LAFOURCHE PARISH, La. (WGNO) — Officials with GeauxPass, Louisiana's toll system, are warning residents about a new text message scam. According to GeauxPass, the scam involves text messages that claim to be from a tolling agency stating that a toll payment is due with a link to a website that asks victims to provide personal and financial information to pay the balance. U.S. Marshals Service warns Louisiana residents about scam calls, spoofing The link included in texts reportedly misspelled the address name by omitting the "x" in GeauxPass and using a .net domain instead of .com. GeauxPass officials said they will never ask for personal or financial information through text message. Don't log in if something looks suspicious. Delete any scam messages. Take efforts to secure your personal information and accounts if you clicked a suspicious link or provided information.
