RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- The 21st Richmond VegFest, an annual festival showcasing the Richmond area's vegan and vegetarian community, is taking place the first weekend of October. This year's VegFest will feature dozens of local restaurants and vendors serving delicious plant-based treats. In addition to food, the festival will also feature live music and a performance by the Laterna Dance Company, as well as a veggie dog eating contest. Ten participants will be randomly selected to take part in the contest, the application closes Monday, Sept. 23 and can be found here. The festival will take place from noon to 6 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 5 at Byrd Park.
