ANNAPOLIS, Md. (DC News Now) -- In an announcement on Monday, Maryland Governor Wes Moore shared that July 2024 marked another record-breaking month for the BWI Thurgood Marshall Airport. With 2,667,660 passengers traveling through BWI, July became the airport's busiest month ever. This record follows the previous one set in June of this year, which was 2,603,847 commercial passengers. “BWI Marshall Airport connects Maryland residents and businesses to the world,” said Gov. Moore. “This new milestone highlights Maryland’s growing position as a major attraction for travel, tourism and commerce.”  Community raises $580,000 for Special Olympics at annual Dulles Day Plane Pull Officials said the airport is a key driver of economic activity and transportation in Maryland. It provides nearly 300 daily nonstop departures to about 90 domestic and international destinations. The airport produces a total annual economic impact of $11.3 billion. According to the state, BWI Marshall and its passengers generate, support and sustain more than 107,000 jobs throughout the region. Officials said the new July record represented a growth of 8.4% compared to the same period last year. “The record-setting performance demonstrates a continued demand for air travel,” said BWI Marshall Airport Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer Ricky Smith. “Our team works tirelessly to offer an efficient, positive travel experience. We thank our customers and partners for their continued support.”
