WALTERBORO, S.C. (WSAV) - The Colleton County Sheriff's Office (CCSO) detectives are investigating a shooting that occurred Sunday. The CCSO says at approximately 5:50 p.m. on Buffalo Lane in Walterboro, witnesses reported an argument between adults that escalated and resulted in shots being fired. A bullet entered the residence and struck a 9-year-old girl who was inside the home. The girl was transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries and remains in the ICU. According to the CCSO, suspect, 23-year-old Brian Brookes Jr. has been identified and has an active warrant for Assault and Battery of a High and Aggravated Nature as a result of the incident. Colleton County Sheriff's Office Detectives are working diligently to located him. The case is ongoing and additional charges are expected, according to authorities.
