SUFFOLK, Va. (WAVY) -- The campuses of Paul D. Camp Community College were closed Monday morning due to a bomb threat. The Franklin Police Department says the Paul D. Camp Franklin campus notified them about the threat at 8:25 a.m. and authorities responded to help assist with evacuations. Paul D. Camp's other two campuses in Smithfield and Suffolk were also closed due to threat. The community college sent out a post on social media at 9:36 a.m. saying that they had an "emergency situation. " Authorities say after a search that included explosive detection canines, all Paul D. Camp facilities were deemed clear at 10:58 a.m. "The Franklin Police Department was assisted by and extends thanks to the Virginia State Police, Southampton County Sheriff’s Office, Isle of Wight County Sheriff’s Office and the City of Suffolk Fire Department Fire Marshal’s Office for their assistance."
