MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- A Memphis Police officer was injured on Interstate 240 Sunday morning when he was hit head-on by an impaired driver at the scene of an accident, police say. Officers say they responded to the car crash involving a marked City of Memphis Police Department Vehicle just before 6:50 a.m. The police car was originally blocking I-240 at Perkins for another traffic accident. The officer and the driver in the Toyota were both taken to St. Francis Hospital with minor injuries. Police say the driver in the Toyota is charged with no driver's license, reckless driving, and driving under the influence.
