HIGH POINT, N.C. (WGHP) — Investigators are searching for a carjacking suspect, or possible suspects, after a police chase through multiple counties in North Carolina on Monday morning. At around 6 a.m. on Monday, A Concord Police Department officer alerted North Carolina State Highway Patrol that they and a Rowan County Sheriff's Officer deputy were involved in a chase with a carjacking suspect on northbound Business 85 heading toward Randolph County. 8-year-old girl found driving to Target Troopers responded to the area, activated their lights and sirens and joined the pursuit of the suspect vehicle. At some point during the chase, troopers say the suspect exited off Business 85 onto Prospect Street before losing control and driving off of the road. As a trooper began to slow down to follow behind the suspect vehicle, they were hit by another law enforcement vehicle. Scene at the Prospect Street exit Neither law enforcement officer was injured as a result of the crash. Troopers say that the suspect, or suspects, ran away from the scene and escaped custody. It is unknown whether or not any injuries were sustained. Business 85 North was closed for around an hour during the investigation which is still ongoing. There is no further information available at this time. This is a developing story.
