HUNTINGTON, Ind. (WANE) - More students than ever before are choosing to get their education at Huntington University. The school announced Monday a total of 1,777 students are enrolled this semester. It's the third year in a row more scholars are attending the university. According to statistics shared in a press release, 1,504 students were enrolled in fall 2023; in 2022, there were 1,428 students. The Christian university has been around for 127 years, and there weren't more than 1,700 students enrolled at one time until fall 2024. Of those students, 1,266 undergraduates are at the main campus in Huntington, and 242 are at the campus in Peoria, Arizona. Live in Your Hometown: Columbia City and soy sauce “What an exciting moment in HU’s history!” Sherilyn Emberton, president of the university, said in a press release. “Students are joining the Forester Family from all over world and almost every state in the U.S. This 18% growth is directly attributed to innovative programs with national reputations. We are also thrilled to see our new dual and concurrent credit initiatives to reach Indiana’s high school students nearly triple their enrollment. This targeted growth should promote more Hoosier students to pursue education at the collegiate level.” Students hail from 64 of the 92 counties in Indiana, 38 states including Alaska and Hawaii, and 32 countries, the release said. Students also represent all four corners of the United States, according to the release, from Washington to Florida and California to Maine. Several other universities in northeast Indiana have seen increased enrollment for fall 2024, including Trine, Manchester and Indiana University Fort Wayne.
