"Second Summer" temperatures take hold before Fall begins
Sep 16, 2024
AUSTIN (KXAN) -- Hot temperatures are here to stay for the week ahead of the very first day of fall this weekend.
Afternoon highs will soar well into the 90s today, not likely to reach records but still run 5°-8° hotter than where they should be for this time of year. Mainly sunny skies can be expected areawide with only a slim chance at a spot shower/storm returning to the Hill Country today (<10%).
Isolated shower possible (<10%) Monday afternoon/evening but the majority of us stay dry
Quiet, hot and sunny weather will take us through the end of the work week. Not until this weekend do we start talking about the potential for rain again as a boundary approaches the area. Unfortunately, even this rain chance looks minimal... but at the very least, temperatures do start to tick down a few degrees.
Hotter than average for the next 7+ days
Tracking the tropics
Potential Tropical Cyclone 8 continues to struggle with its inner circulation off the coast of South Carolina. Further organization is no longer expected with PTC 8 expected to make landfall between Charleston and Myrtle Beach, South Carolina later today.
