Providence City Council looking for resident feedback on comprehensive plan
Sep 16, 2024
PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Providence City Councilors are asking for the community to come weigh in on the once-a-decade effort to figure out how the city of Providence will grow over the next ten years.
Broadly, the cities comprehensive plan is an urban planning document meant to give future city staff guidelines for how to grow over the next decade.
The plan covers everything from transportation to housing, things like environmental sustainability and preservation of providence’s historical districts.
This work began back in 2022, and earlier this month officials began going through the plans official draft.
Now, they’re looking for community input to continue moving work forward.
The city council is set to meet at 5:30 Monday night for the first of what is expected to be several public input sessions.
Council members will meet at city hall at 5:30 p.m. for a public input session on the comprehensive plan.
A full draft of the plan is available here, including proposed zoning changes.
