LAFAYETTE, Ind. A 14-year-old has been arrested in Lafayette for allegedly making threats to area schools.
According to the Lafayette Police Department, officers were made aware on Sunday of threats involving a potential shooting at Lafayette Jefferson High School and Tecumseh Middle School.
Investigators connected a 14-year-old juvenile to the threats and was taken into custody on a list of charges, including:
Conspiracy to commit burglary
Conspiracy to commit theft of a firearm
Conspiracy to commit auto theft
Possession of a firearm
"The safety of our schools and community is of utmost importance," LPD said in a statement. "The Lafayette Police Department will continue to work closely with school administrators to ensure a secure environment for students and staff."
The Tippecanoe County Prosecutor's Office will make the final charging decision.
The case remains under investigation.
