Mayfield Heights has announced that it will be hosting, for the first time, a Hog and Hops Pig Roast and Beer Fest at the newly built Aquatic and Community Center, 6080 Marsol Road in Mayfield Heights. The Hog and Hops event, starting at 6 p.m. on Sept. 28, will be, if the weather holds out, on the newly built center’s new deck alongside their outdoor pool, according to the city’s website. City Recreation Director Sean Ward said that while the event was open for everyone over the age of 21, he wanted to come up with something different for the less silver-haired people that might not often come to the other get-togethers that the city holds throughout the year. “We are trying to set something up for a younger adult crowd,” Ward said. “Before COVID we had talked about doing a beer fest, and obviously once COVID hit everything kind of went out the window.” Ten different beers will be on site provided by 8th Day Brewing Company, Bookhouse Brewing, Collision Bend Brewing Company, and Schnitz Ale Brewery. “Now that we are situated in our new facility, we thought we would try a Beer Fest with a twist…,” he said/ “And we have a beautiful pool now, and the deck, in the evening when the lights are on at night, it’s a nice facility and it just looks beautiful, so what better way to celebrate a nice fall evening than to have a pig roast combined with a beer fest.” Besides the brews, and the pig, sides from Chef Cecelia will include cornbread, homemade mac and cheese, “sweet and sassy” baked beans, coleslaw, dessert and more, according to the Mayfield Heights event website. Tickets are $50 per person which includes pig roast and all the fixings, 15 beer tasting tickets, commemorative, plastic, beer-tasting mug, soft drinks and water. $25 designated driver ticket includes pig roast and all the fixings along with soft drinks and water.
