SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - The Springfield Vietnamese Cultural Association held its traditional Moon Festival Saturday evening. 34th Springfield Puerto Rican Parade celebrates ‘Puerto Rican magic’ This traditional Moon Festival is a holiday, also known as the Mid-Autumn Festival, where friends and family get together and celebrate one another. Every year the Moon Festival is held in the middle of the eighth lunar month and worships the God of Earth. People celebrated with song and dance and enjoyed special treats like moon cakes. "This is to help with the kids to keep our culture, help the kids remember our roots," said Trinh Roblinski, Executive Director of the Springfield Vietnamese Cultural Association. As part of this exciting holiday tradition, in Springfield many marched through the neighborhoods with lanterns.
