BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — The community unites to host a music festival to fundraise for Dylan René, 6, and her father, Josiah Menard who are facing the challenges of cancer head-on.   Dylan René, was originally diagnosed with Hypoplastic Acute Myeloid Leukemia. After additional testing, it was discovered that she has a rare blood disorder, 'Fanconi Anemia' which has led to bone marrow failure.  Now, Dylan and her father are admitted to St. Jude's Research Hospital in Memphis, TN where they recently underwent a bone marrow transplant and are both recovering. Walmart rolling out inclusive, accessible carts at stores in 11 states “Now starts a 30-day process from what we understand that she's going to be resting, isolating in order to give her body the best chance to adopt those cells,” Danae Simmons said.  The "Music Fest for Dylan" brought out dozens of supporters to raise money to support her cancer treatment journey. " As a dad and a grandpa it's overwhelming to me to see all of these people who love our son and our granddaughter to just come out and support because of the love they have for those guys,” Larry Menard said.  Local bands donated their time and Nick Cormier, the owner of Envie Smokehouse said it's not just about raising money — it is about standing with Dylan. "We're a community here right, everybody has hard times, it's very important to help people do anything we can for anybody going through tough times like this goes through tough times like this,” Cormier said.  As the music played on, the community’s message was clear: Dylan isn’t in this fight alone. A GoFundMe page is set up to help the family with medical expenses.
