SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) -- A local non-profit is hosting its inaugural Halloween costume drive to collect new or gently used costumes. Support the Enlisted Project, which helps young military and veteran families facing financial crisis, is aiming to collect around 600 costumes for toddlers and children up to age to 13. Once the drive is complete, the costumes collected will be handed out at the non-profit's monthly distribution event on Saturday, Oct. 19. For those interested in attending, pre-registration is required.  “Our team of veterans and military allies here at STEP know the financial challenges that come with service,” says Tony Teravainen, CEO and co-founder, STEP. “From relocation to deployment, there are many reasons why military families face financial stress and find it difficult to prepare for holiday purchases." Donations can be made in the following ways: -- Drop-offs at the non-profit's warehouse, which is located 9915 Businesspark Ave. A in San Diego. -- Drop-offs at the Barron Team’s office , which is located at 10085 Carroll Canyon Rd. Suite 100 in San Diego. -- Donors can also purchase costumes online via the non-profit's virtual store, as well as make monetary donations directly to Support the Enlisted Project by check or credit card. "We provide military families with financial education and support to lighten their load with essential supplies so they don’t have to choose between spending money on a Halloween costume or putting food on the table,” Teravainen continued. The Halloween costume donation drive will take place from now until Monday, Sept. 30.
